Fundamental Focus on Custom Hand and Wrist Splinting

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the anatomy of the forearm and hand.
  2. Describe anatomical landmarks as related to splinting.
  3. Describe Fundamental principles of proper static splint making.
  4. Construct common wrist and custom hand splints.
  5. Distinguish between common custom wrist splints and describe their uses.
  6. Identify precautions and contraindications to static splint making.
  7. Summarize proper billing and coding for splint making.


Ronald F. Agrigento, P.T., D.P.T., A.T.C.

Ron Agrigento received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in 1989 and his Doctoral degree from Shenandoah University in 2008. Ron is also a Certified Athletic Trainer, and active with several area high school athletic programs. Ron has been manufacturing custom hand wrist splint for 28 years and has focused much of his continuing education on the upper extremity. Ron has been a co-owner of PTSIR since 1996 and in Private Practice Physical Therapy for over 28 Years.
