

A physical therapist initially evaluates each patient to identify existing symptoms and potential concerns. A plan of care is developed according to the patient's needs. The plan may include one or more of the following: therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activities, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, functional training, manual therapy (joint and soft tissue mobilizations), home exercise programs, and modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). The therapist may also fabricate and apply assistive, adaptive, supportive, and protective devices to assist the patient.
